What are we going to do about it?
- Transform the maternity workforce to a 'continuity of care' model which will result in anyone who is pregnant and their partners seeing the same small group of midwives from pregnancy, birth and after birth.
- Improve the mental health services that are currently available to anyone who is pregnant especially after they have just had their baby.
- Support our midwives, health visitors and GPs to work in a more joined up way to maximise the opportunities for parents and babies to get the right support quickly.
How will we know that we have made a difference?
- We will know we have made a difference as more pregnancies will be delivered at the parent's preferred place and they will know the midwife who delivers their baby.
- Smoking at time of delivery will reduce and breastfeeding rates will increase.
- Staff sickness rates will lower and satisfaction scores will rise.
